Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SnapShip before your next thrift run.
Are the eBay fees and shipping estimates accurate?
SnapShip uses eBay's standard final value fee structure (typically 12.9–15% depending on category) plus a calculated shipping estimate based on the item's likely weight and dimensions. These are realistic estimates, not exact quotes — actual fees can vary slightly based on your specific eBay seller account tier and the buyer's location.
For shipping, SnapShip estimates based on typical packaging for the item type. If you know the exact weight and dimensions, you can override the estimate inside the app for a more precise profit calculation.
What kinds of items can I get valuations on?
SnapShip works on virtually anything that sells on eBay — electronics, clothing, shoes, collectibles, toys, sports cards, video games, tools, kitchenware, art, jewelry, ceramics, vintage items, and more. If it has an active secondary market on eBay, SnapShip can pull real sold data on it.
It works best on branded items where the AI can read a logo, model number, or label in the photo. Unusual or highly niche items with very few sold comps will return an UNCLEAR verdict rather than guessing.
Are the results accurate?
SnapShip pulls real eBay sold listing data — not estimates, not guesses. The prices you see are what actual buyers paid for the same or similar items in recent weeks. The AI identification is accurate on clearly branded, well-lit items. Blurry photos, items with no visible branding, or very rare items may return lower-confidence results.
For best accuracy: take a clear photo in good lighting, and if the item has a label or model number, take a second photo of it. SnapShip supports two-photo scans specifically for this.
Is this pulling actual eBay sold comp data?
Yes. SnapShip connects to real eBay sold listing data — items that have already sold and completed. This is the same data experienced resellers manually look up on eBay by filtering to "Sold Items." SnapShip automates that lookup and does the profit math instantly.
Why can't I just use Google Lens to do the same thing?
Google Lens identifies what an item is — but it stops there. It won't tell you what it sold for last week on eBay, what your net profit would be after fees and shipping, or whether you should buy it at the price you're seeing. SnapShip does all of that in one scan.
How is SnapShip different from or better than Google Lens?
Google Lens is an identification tool. SnapShip is a profit decision tool. The difference is the data layer on top: real eBay sold prices, calculated net profit after eBay fees and shipping, ROI percentage, demand score, average days to sell, and a clear BUY IT or LEAVE IT verdict — all from a single photo in under 15 seconds.
If you're a reseller, you don't just need to know what something is. You need to know if it's worth buying at the price in front of you. That's what SnapShip answers.
Can I save my flips and export a spreadsheet?
Yes. Every item you scan is saved to your history. You can mark items as sold, log your actual cost and sale price, and track your profit over time in the Stats dashboard. When it's time for taxes or bookkeeping, you can export all of your sold items as a CSV file directly from the app and open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet tool.
Do I need an eBay account to use SnapShip?
No. SnapShip pulls eBay sold data on your behalf — you don't need to connect or log in to any eBay account. You just open the app, scan an item, and get results. If you want to use the one-tap eBay listing feature to post items directly, that does require connecting your eBay seller account, but it's optional.
What are the best practices to get the best results?
A few things that make a big difference: take photos in good natural light, make sure the brand name or model number is visible and in focus, and use the two-photo feature when there's a label on the back or bottom. Enter your actual cost before scanning so the profit calculation is personalized to your deal. If you get an UNCLEAR result, try a tighter crop on the item or a different angle that shows more branding detail.
Can you really make money using SnapShip?
SnapShip doesn't source items or sell them for you — but it removes the guesswork that causes resellers to lose money. The most common mistake in reselling is paying too much for something because you didn't know the real market value. SnapShip shows you the real number in seconds, so you only buy items where the margin is there.
One good flip at a thrift store or estate sale can easily cover a full year of SnapShip. Most active resellers treat it as a non-negotiable part of every sourcing run.
